Cote d'Azur

Cote d'Azur, this is the name that Stephen Liegard gave to his oeuvre in 1877.
The famous French Academy distinguished this work and the French kept the name for their coast because the French Riviera is indeed well described by the name of the blue coast.

The Cote d'Azur is a fantastic sailing region located between the Italian border and the eastern suburbs of Marseille. It has a well equipped chain of marinas that make it possible for every sailor to enjoy a evening walk on land.

Think of feudal Monaco with its casinos and its harbor where you can find exceptional yachts.
Or the fashionable tourist destination Saint Tropez where you may spot Brigitte Bardot sitting in one of the cafés.

Make a stop on your trip at the old harbor of Cannes where you can witness the famous movie awards. In this city you can enjoy delicate food at the famous restaurant Gaston. Here everybody is out on the promenade and in its cafés until late night.

Nowhere are the opposites of the fashionable and the idyllic closer than on the Cote d'Azur.
The islands Iles des Lerines, Saint Marguerite and Saint Honorat are only a few miles away. On these islands you can find a most beautiful landscape just as on the isles Ile Gros, Porquerolles and Ile du Levante.
A trip to the region of the Calanques near Cassis is worth the effort of a journey because of its fjords.

Your sailing trip should also lead you to Marseille. After a visit to the local garlic market near the old harbor you just have to taste one of the traditional dishes like the Bouillabaise or the Marmite.
